Rabbi Sandy Zisser is very excited to be part of the KTI community as the Director of Education. He has been a professional educator for almost twenty years, and involved in Jewish education for much of his life. Rabbi Zisser received his B.A. from SUNY Albany with a dual major in American History and Judaic Studies. He then received a Masters in Special Education from the Bank Street College of Education. Rabbi Zisser taught in schools in New York City until he joined the faculty at The Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in 1994. Rabbi Zisser received his Rabbinical Ordination from the Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute in 2012.
As a Jewish educator, Rabbi Zisser began his work informally as a counselor at Ramah Nyack, and then more formally working at many Hebrew Schools over the years. As an administrator, he began as the principal of the Hebrew High School at Beth El Synagogue in New Rochelle and most recently served as the Religious School Director at Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry.
Rabbi Zisser strongly believes in educating the whole synagogue, with opportunities for adults and children to learn, formally and informally, together as families, or independently by age groups. He loves teaching all ages from our youngest children to our oldest adults. Over the last several years Rabbi Zisser has offered a wide variety of Adult Education classes and is looking forward to sharing meaningful learning experiences with all of KTI.
In his spare time Rabbi Zisser is a tech geek, who also loves music and art. Growing up in Westchester as a Yankee fan, who married into a Mets family, he loves hockey and is an avid New Jersey Devils fan!
Rabbi Zisser currently lives in White Plains, with his wife and two children.
